Team: Dr Ornella Iuorio, Dr Sam Wilcock, FlyNow

Drone spraying explores the design, manufacture and control of a robotic spraying system for cleaning and surface treatment operations at height. The project focuses on the practical integration of mechatronics, payload handling, motion control and safe deployment, with the aim of creating a system that can operate reliably in difficult-to-access environments.

Working with Milan/Piacenza-based company FlyNow, the work brings together engineering design and control development to translate a concept into a usable platform. That includes developing the spraying mechanism, refining the drone interface and testing how the system performs in real operating conditions. The project supports applications where conventional access methods are slower, more expensive or less safe, and it contributes to wider research into robotic solutions for building maintenance and surface treatment.
